Our Class Saint in Y5 is Saint Patrick. We celebrate his Feast day on March 17th. On the feast day of their patron Saint the children can wear their own clothes in school.
Our Class Celebration, which is on the theme of the Baptism of the Lord, will take place on Thursday 15th January 2026 – parents welcome.
Please see the newsletters below and the school calendar for further important dates.
Reading journals need to come into school every day and go home every evening. The children should use these to record when they read as well as their weekly spellings. Please continue to read to/with your child and also listen to them read.
Religious Education
RE is our most important subject and is at the core of our curriculum. We do 2 hours of RE every week, a child led liturgy every week and four other sessions of collective worship including Mass or celebration every Thursday.
Thursday 9th October will be the Year 5 Liturgy, and we are delighted to welcome parents and carers to join us. Please see the newsletters for further important dates!
PE Days
Every Tuesday and Friday with Ignite Sports. Swimming is now over!
PE will be either in the hall or outside. Please come to school in your kit (and ready for the weather) on your PE days.
PE Kit: white t-shirt; dark (navy/black/ dark grey) shorts or joggers; plain (none branded) hoodie and trainers. Football tops are not permitted. Children who are going swimming need trunks or a full swimsuit, a towel, and can bring goggles if desired.
Reading
Reading journals need to come into school every day and go home every evening. The children should use these to record when they read as well as their weekly spellings. Please continue to read to/with your child and also listen to them read.
How can you help at home?
- Listen to your child read and read to your child regularly
- Practise times tables – TT Rockstars
- Practise weekly spellings
Google Classroom & Online Learning
All of the children have their own google account where they can access google classroom. This is the platform we often use in school for on-line learning, recording and sharing work. Homework can also be shared in this way rather than bringing things in from home.
