Welcome to Nursery
Mr de Koning is our nursery teacher, supported by and our super-amazing nursery assistants. Our super, homely, beautiful Nursery opens at 07:30 and finishes at 17:30, incorporating the wrap around care offered by Dragon’s Den. We want our nursery to be like a ‘home from home’. We want your children to absolutely LOVE being here with us!
Our nursery Patron Saint is Saint John Paul II and we celebrate his feast day in October. Please see the newsletters below and the school calendar for further important dates.
The nursery environment has been very carefully designed to maximise children’s creativity and help promote excellent speech and language development. Both our Nursery and Reception classes work closely together as we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
We regularly use our large wildlife area at the top of our field for our forest school. Most afternoons you will find us outside in the forest!
If we ever want to join together with the reception children in their lovely classroom next door, we go through the MAGIC DOOR designed by our former headteacher, Mrs Statham.
Mrs Statham. our former headteacher, wanted a way for the nursery and reception children to share both settings and she took inspiration from her favourite childhood author ~ Enid Blyton. We now have our very own Faraway Tree.
We offer 30 free hours per week for eligible families, and are open for 50 hours per week should you need us.
We offer very flexible options to work around your and your child’s needs. Your child can stay from 9 o’clock until 3 or take advantage of our ‘wrap around’ provision opening from 07:30 until 17:30. Perhaps you only need mornings? Do you only need one day a week? We are happy to work around you!
Come and see us to enrol your little one in our very special and magical nursery. See you soon!
Reminders
Please could we ask that children bring in:
- a pair of named black indoor plimsoles to wear inside.
- a named drawstring PE bag with a spare change of clothes inside, in case they need
them. No backpacks please as we don’t have the space for them. - a named drinks bottle containing water. We will have a snack during the morning of milk/water and a choice of fruit or vegetables provided by school.
- a named Raincoat with hood each day.
- named shoes that are safe to climb in every day e.g. trainers or school shoes (no Crocs, sandals or wellies). This allows all children to play outside regularly and safely (including on the castle).
- named Wellies to be kept at school for wet days.
Keeping in touch
Tapestry is an easy to use, online, learning journal. We use it to communicate with parents and jointly create a record of your child’s learning. It is now back up and running and allows us to share with you the daily achievements and experiences your children have here at St George’s. Please also add to this yourselves: we love to share in their progress. Learning is a team effort! If you have any difficulty logging on to your child’s account – please come in to see us.
